Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Match Preview
Sevilla have opened the new campaign with a 0-2 win at Espanyol and managed to build on the success with a win at Granada (0-1), where a single goal from Joan Jordan proved enough for all three points which see Lopetegui’s men at the top of the table after two games played.
Sevillistas now host Celta Vigo for their first home outing this term in hope they can build on the performances, having based last term’s success on solid results at this ground and now surely looking for more of the same early in the new season. They have great recent records against Celticos at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and now look for their fifth consecutive win here.
Celta Vigo have seen an exciting 1-3 loss to Real Madrid on the opening day of the campaign but bounced quickly with the last week’s win over Valencia (1-0), where Gabriel Fernandez opened the scoresheet early on and it proved enough for all three points against fierce rivals.
Celticos have a lot to prove in Seville, though, as they have known woes away from home. They will have to offer more on the road if they’re to do more than their last season’s 17th-place finish, but the Friday’s trip hardly feels like a great opportunity to show off early on.
We thus feel Sevilla will have what it takes to build on the winning streak here and we’re now backing them to bag their third in a row, as we stick our necks out for a Home win and a Yes on Both teams to score – which combines to an enticing 2/1 with Coral.
With that in mind, we’re making a case for a high-scoring contest in Seville and backing Over 2.5 Goals FT at 8/13 with Unibet feels like buying money for old rope, as the sides’ seventh such head-to-head clash in eight occasions.
Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Prediction
Against world-wide expectations, at present, at least statistically, Sevilla is the best team. They have built up some form as well as momentum as part of their two wins to nil on the trot.
Moreover, they were unbeaten in 13 of their previous 14 overall games and won 11 of their last 13 too. At home, they won the former four on the trot, and nine of the prior eleven too.
Importantly, Vigo lost three of their last four overall fixtures and embarrassingly was winless in 18 of their last 20 on the road. In addition, Sevilla recorded five of the former seven h2h wins and won eight of the last ten clashes here too. They also scored two or more goals in the former four battles between the two, and to signify their dominance even better, Sevilla has lost at this stadium against this opponent just twice in the last 15 years.

Match Tips & News
Celta Vigo recovered from their opening day loss to Real Madrid with a win over Valencia on Match Day 2 and they will have a chance to test themselves against another heavyweight in the shape of Sevilla this Friday. Sevilla, on their part, will be hoping to pick three points and stay at the top of the table for another week and one factor they will be banking on will be their defence. Sevilla have not conceded in their last three La Liga matches and are unbeaten in their last four league outings and have seven wins in their last 11 matches in La Liga and six clean sheets in the process. At home in La Liga, Sevilla have picked four wins in their last five matches and have scored two goals or more in eight of their last 10. They only need to improve on defence, having conceded in six of their last 10 home matches in La Liga. In 17 home league matches, they have lost just three. Celta Vigo on the other hand, carry a run of just one win, and two losses in their last four La Liga matches and just three clean sheets in their last 15 matches in the league. They have six wins in the last 25 La Liga matches and it is bad away from home too – they have no win in 12 away La Liga matches and just two clean sheets in 28. None of the last six meetings between the two sides have yielded a draw, and we don’t expect that in this game either. In 36 previous meetings, Sevilla have picked 14 wins and Celta Vigo 16. Only six have ended in draws.
