Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

England – Premier League

Start date: 01. Sep 2019, 18:00

Location: Liverpool Venue: Goodison Park

Referee: Anthony Taylor, England

Everton do battle with Wolves at Goodison Park this afternoon in an early clash of top six hopefuls.

Wolves finished seventh on their return to the Premier League last season and will be looking to repeat that result this time around, but Everton have lofty ambitions of their own and will be looking to strike an early blow against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Marco Silva will be desperate to get back to winning ways after a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in their last league outing.

But Wolves will represent a tough test for the Blues, having picked up three points from the corresponding fixture last term.

I make fun of our writers (myself included) for how poor our predictions are on a regular basis, but last week’s match against Aston Villa really puts on display how difficult it actually is to make regular predictions regarding Everton Football Club.

That brings us to this week and a tricky match to predict against Wolves. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side has drawn its first three Premier League matches while balancing Europa League qualifying in the opening weeks of the season. They remain a moderately talented side, but one that’s already been through a lot in the opening weeks of the season.

Team news

Fabian Delph could make his first Premier League start for Everton, with fellow new signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin Silva’s only long-term injury concern.

Alex Iwobi is also pressing for a first Premier League start and Moise Kean is another who will be hoping to feature.

Wolves have no real injury concerns.
